The Department of Justice has announced the appointment of 12 lawyers to the Civil Legal Services Appeals Panels, which considers appeals regarding the granting of legal aid in civil cases. Ciaran Harvey, Jim Kitson, Charles Redpath and Htaik Win have been appointed as presiding members.

Belfast firm Edwards & Co Solicitors has announced the appointment of Sarah Burrows as a solicitor. Ms Burrows was head of the charity law team in a large corporate practice in Belfast and now joins partner Jenny Ebbage to further develop the team at Edwards & Co.

Barrister Mark McGarrity was sworn in as a district judge in the Magistrates' Courts this morning. A graduate of Queen's University Belfast and the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS), he called to The Bar of Northern Ireland in 2004 and The Bar of Ireland in 2011.

International law firm Pinsent Masons has announced the appointment of Naoise Harnett as a corporate financial services partner in Dublin. Mr Harnett, who will start in the summer, is joining from William Fry, where he is currently a partner in the insurance and reinsurance department.

Solicitor Rea Walshe has been appointed interim CEO of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) following the exit of John Delaney. Ms Walshe, a qualified solicitor who studied law at University College Cork (UCC), joined the FAI in 2014 and was named COO in February.

Solicitor Niamh Muldoon has been appointed as registrar and CEO of the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI). Ms Muldoon, currently head of corporate governance and secretary to council at the Medical Council of Ireland, will take up the position in April.
