Abortion legislation must wait until court challenges resolved

Legislation to allow for legal access to abortion in Ireland cannot be introduced until legal challenges to the result of the referendum on the Eighth Amendment are resolved, The Irish Times reports.
Three separate applications for judicial review are due to be heard by the High Court in Dublin on Tuesday 26 June.
None of the applications are expected to succeed, but the outcome could be appealed to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
A government source told The Irish Times that draft legislation is still likely to be published in early July.
However, the Eighth Amendment will remain part of the Constitution until the legal challenges are completed, meaning it cannot be enacted.
