Aideen Burke

WFT Ireland is part of Women in Film and Television International, a voluntary foundation promoting greater representation of women on screen and behind the camera. It counts more than 13,000 professionals worldwide as members.

Ms Burke is an experienced media and entertainment lawyer, having worked for a number of years in London before moving back to Dublin in 2017. She has provided legal advice to studios, producers, directors, broadcasters, screenwriters and distributors.

She has worked as legal counsel at Virgin Media Ireland since September 2021.

Dr Susan Liddy, chair of WFT Ireland, said: “The WFT board is delighted to welcome Aideen Burke and grateful she has agreed to volunteer her time and expertise.

“Aideen has been an enthusiastic supporter of WFT for many years and is passionate about our mission to support and advocate for our members. Her background in media law will be a huge asset to us.”

Ms Burke added: “I’m delighted to announce that I have been appointed to the board of Women in Film and Television Ireland. I have been involved in Women in Film and Television in various capacities over the past number of years.

“As a junior lawyer in London, I attended many excellent events held by Women in Film and Television UK. I continued my involvement with Women in Film and Television when I returned to Ireland, both as an event attendee and speaker.

“I am proud to support this excellent organisation and the fantastic work that it does in promoting greater representation of women, both on screen and behind the camera.”
