UK: Amazon fined over failure to respond to Deliveroo merger inquiry
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has imposed penalties on Amazon for the failure to provide complete responses to two sets of statutory information requests in regards to the Amazon/Deliveroo merger investigation.
The investigation was into the acquisition by Amazon of certain rights and a minority shareholding in RooFoods Ltd (trading as Deliveroo).
The CMA has imposed penalties of £25,000 and £30,000 in relation to the failures which resulted in documents being produced after the initial deadline.
Some documents were provided almost two months later within the course of a six month investigation.
The CMA considered that, although Amazon did eventually provide the information required, its behaviour caused unnecessary delays to the CMA’s investigation.
