And finally… devil in the detail
Netflix is facing a lawsuit from The Satanic Temple over its alleged use of a copyrighted design of an evil deity.
The Satanist organisation claims that the production team behind Netflix’s new show, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, used a copyrighted statue of Baphomet as set dressing.
Lucien Greaves, co-founder of The Satanic Temple, told the San Francisco Chronicle that a pre-action letter had been issued to the streaming media giant.
He added: “[Using the statue] is deeply problematic to us … even if that wasn’t the case, we’d be obligated to make a copyright claim because that’s how copyright works.”
The Satanic Temple states that its mission is to “encourage benevolence and empathy among all people, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense and justice, and be directed by the human conscience to undertake noble pursuits guided by the individual will”.
