Lagerfeld, the creative director of French fashion house Chanel and Italian fashion house Fendi, died on Tuesday.

The childless fashionista’s seven-year-old Birman cat, Choupette, is now set to benefit from his vast fortune.

In an interview with French magazine Numéro last year, Lagerfeld was asked if his cat was named in his will and he replied: “Among others, yes. Don’t worry, there is enough for everyone.”

He added: “She has her own little fortune, she’s an heiress.”

It remains to be seen how Choupette will benefit from the money in practice.
