And finally… law is an ass

A defendant in a criminal case has been sharply rebuked by a judge after logging into a remote court hearing with the offensive name “Buttf*cker 3000”.

The man, real name Nathaniel Saxton, was appearing remotely before a district court in the US state of Michigan on drug offence charges yesterday.

Shortly after he was admitted to the Zoom hearing, Judge Jeffrey Middleton told him: “Your name’s not Buttf*cker 3000, you yo-ho, logging into my court with that as your screen name. What kind of idiot logs into court like that?”

After Mr Saxton was removed and readmitted with his real name – albeit misspelled – he said his Zoom name had been changed by his sister as an inside joke, US outlet Law&Crime reports.

The judge told him: “Tell her she almost got you put in jail for contempt of court.”
