And finally… no joke
Israel’s justice minister has come under fire after releasing an election video in which she sprays herself with a perfume labelled “fascism” - then says it “smells like democracy”.
The 44-second video, now viral globally, features Ayelet Shaked as the star of her very own black-and-white perfume advert.
A sultry voice-over in Hebrew sets out her support for radical policies such as “restraining the High Court” and “reducing judicial activism”.
According to The Times of Israel, Ms Shaked’s manifesto includes scrapping the independent judicial appointments commission and giving the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, the power to overturn Supreme Court decisions on the constitutionality of legislation by majority vote.
She and another government minister, Naftali Bennett, are running as candidates for New Right, a new party set up last December to appeal to right-wing secular Jews.
The new advert apparently aims to mock Ms Shaked’s critics on the left.
