And finally… nothing to wine about
A company which hid an offer of free wine in its online privacy policy has said it has finally been claimed three months later.
Tax Policy Associates (TPA) added the following words to its privacy policy in February: “We will send a bottle of good wine to the first person to read this.”
English tax lawyer Dan Neidle, who founded TPA, said it was part of an “ongoing experiment into whether anyone reads website T&Cs”.
Keeping to its promise, the non-profit sent a bottle of Château de Sales 2013/14, Pomerol to the person who emailed.
However, Neidle is not yet convinced that people are paying attention to the text — as the person who claimed the bottle admitted they were only reading it to assist in writing their own privacy policy.
