And finally… sick squid
Contestants in a Netflix game show based on its dystopian hit series Squid Game have threatened legal action over alleged injuries sustained during filming.
Squid Game: The Challenge controversially turns the deadly trials of the Korean TV drama into a game show where players compete for real money.
English law firm Express Solicitors has now been instructed by two contestants alleging they suffered injuries including hypothermia and nerve damage as a result of poor health and safety standards on set.
Netflix previously confirmed that three of 456 contestants received medical attention after filming outdoors during a cold snap in January, which led to an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Daniel Slade, chief executive officer (legal) at Express Solicitors, said: “We have sent letters of claim on behalf of contestants injured in this show.
“From what we’ve been told they pushed the boundaries of safety in the name of entertainment. Production companies need to ensure that health and safety standards on their shows don’t leave people at risk of harm.”
