And finally… The Nutcracker
An ex-supermodel has demanded £196 million from her wealthy ex-husband in one of the UK’s biggest-ever divorce battles.
Christina Estrada has told the High Court in London that she wants £10,000 a year from her ex-partner, allegedly a Saudi billionaire, so she can buy designer gowns and tickets to Elton John’s white tie ball.
Her other claims include an annual travel budget of £2.1 million, including nearly £500,000 to rent a yacht for a fortnight and more than £250,000 to stay in Paris for twelve days.
Ms Estrada wants a “holiday entertainment” budget of £160 per day, claiming the figure reflects face value ticket prices for the famous Parisian opera, La Traviata.
But challenged to back up her claim that she is a regular opera-goer, she said her favourite opera is Tchaikovsky’s ballet, The Nutcracker.
Ex-husband Dr Walid Juffali divorced Ms Estrada in Saudi Arabia in 2014, after she had already launched divorce proceedings in England in 2013 on the basis of adultery.
Ms Estrada’s legal team claim he is worth around £8 billion, though his lawyers say it is closer to £650 million.
