Police were despatched to the hotel in Enderby, near the English city of Leicester, after a member of the public reported seeing a man carrying “a large knife”, The Guardian reports.

“Following enquiries we quickly established that it was a Harry Potter fan with a wand,” local police said in a social media post.

Misspelling the name of the series’ primary antagonist, the force added: “Thankfully no harm was caused to any resident and there was no sign of ‘Voldermort’.”
