And finally… trouser snake

Detectives are on the trail of a slippery customer who stole a two foot long python from a pet shop by stuffing it down his trousers.

Sgt. Greg Stewart said no arrests have yet been made in connection with last Friday’s theft but the crime was captured on CCTV.

Christin Bjugan, owner of A to Z pet store, said the film had helped cops identify a suspect, and she expects the snake to be returned soon.

The video shows the suspect with taking the snake from a tank, stuff it down his pants and then awkwardly walk out of the shop.

Bjugan added that it was “pretty gutsy” for the man to put the python down his pants, and potentially dodgy because it was close to feeding day.

Although she pointed out that the snake does like warm, dark places.

Sergeant Stewart of Portland police department told KPTV that the police have investigated previous thefts at pet stores. But added: “If you look at the theft of stuff from pet stores, a lot of times it’s someone wandering in drunk and doing something stupid. This one’s a little bit different, although putting a snake down your pants is not super bright. There’s a lot of different ways that could go wrong.”
