And finally… uber and over

A French businessman is suing Uber claiming the taxi company negligently alerted his wife to his adultery, leading to the break-up of his marriage.

The Riviera-based businessman says he once used his wife’s mobile phone to hail an Uber driver and that, despite logging off, the company continued to send notifications to her iPhone - charting his travel movements thereby arousing her suspicions.

The couple have now divorced.

Le Figaro reports that the man’s solicitor David-Andre Darmon has lodged an action with the court in Grasse suing for up to €45 million.

He said: “My client was the victim of a bug in an application. The bug has caused him problems in his private life.”

He added that his client wished to remain anonymous.

According to Le Figaro, the bug is said to have affected iPhones before a software update in December.

Uber declined to comment on the case but added that the best possible protection of clients’ personal details was a priority.
