And finally… winging it
A star American footballer has unexpectedly come to the defence of a woman jailed for stealing $1.5 million worth of chicken wings.
Chris Jones, a player for the Kansas City Chiefs, has offered to pay for the wings in order to secure Vera Liddell’s release from prison, USA Today reports.
Liddell, a school worker, was sentenced last week to nine years’ imprisonment after admitting she stole the enormous quantity of meat during the Covid-19 pandemic.
It has not been established what she did with the wings — which were procured as school meals — after stealing them.
Jones pledged on social media this week: “I’ll pay for the wings that she stole to get her free.”
