Appointments to WRC board to be made by next week
Seven vacancies on the board of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) will be filled by next week at the latest, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has said.
The board has been unable to meet since September 2021 due to the unfilled vacancies because it is unable to reach the quorum to make decisions.
Mr Varadkar yesterday told TDs: “I anticipate those seven appointments will be made probably as soon as this week, or if not this week then next week.”
The minister made the commitment in response to a question from Louise O’Reilly, enterprise spokesperson for Sinn Féin, who said new WRC inspectors were “very badly needed”.
“There is a commitment in the programme for government to increase those numbers, but that cannot happen without the board,” she said.
