Barristers retain trophy in annual cricket match with solicitors
The Bar of Ireland again triumphed over the Dublin Solicitors’ Bar Association (DSBA) in the two organisations’ annual cricket match.
The annual John F Buckley trophy was retained by the Bar in what the DSBA described as a “pulsating match” at Leinster Cricket Club which came down to the last over.
Maitiú Ó Dónaill, partner at Beauchamps, bowled the final ball of the match, pitted against Martin Block BL.
Writing on LinkedIn, the DSBA said: “Martin Block got the faintest of touches towards point. Time may have stood still but star fielder and former DSBA president Tony O’Sullivan did not.
“Despite sprinting towards the ball and hurling it towards the stumps with such speed and grace that most onlookers would swear it didn’t happen, the Bar team made their winning run.
“Congratulations were offered to the Bar and players and spectators enjoyed a meal and drinks together.”
