Behind the Iron Throne: Carson McDowell secures permission for Game of Thrones studio tour
Belfast-based Carson McDowell has helped to bring a £24 million Game of Thrones-themed studio tour to Northern Ireland.
The law firm acted for Linen Mill Studios in its planning application to transform one of the show’s key production sites into a tourist attraction, which was approved by Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council last night.
The plans, first announced in 2018, will see the studio buildings extended into a 110,000-square-foot interactive experience, expected to attract up to 600,000 visitors per year.
Gary McGhee, partner at Carson McDowell, said: “We are delighted to have helped Linen Mill Studios secure planning permission for this landmark £24 million attraction, which will provide a major boost to the local economy in Banbridge and the wider Northern Ireland tourism industry.
“Game of Thrones is a global brand with a worldwide fanbase who are prepared to travel to Northern Ireland in great numbers and this new, one-of-a-kind attraction will provide further reason for them to visit.”
