Belfast lawyer Jude Copeland wins LGBT+ award
Belfast solicitor Jude Copeland has been named winner of the Legal Representation Award at the GNI MAG Awards 2024.
The awards, supported by Danske Bank, celebrate the exceptional contributions of businesses, charities, and individuals who work tirelessly to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ people across Northern Ireland.
Over 56,000 votes were cast over a 10-day period ahead of the awards ceremony at The Crowne Plaza, Belfast.
The Legal Representation Award recognises Mr Copeland’s outstanding commitment to ensuring equal access to justice and advocating for the legal rights of LGBTQIA+ individuals.
“Jude’s work has been instrumental in creating lasting change, and this accolade affirms their dedication to equality and fairness,” the organisers said.
As part of the event’s broader mission, attendees at the awards ceremony also contributed to raising vital funds for the evening’s charity partner, The Rainbow Project.
With £10 donated from each ticket sold and additional proceeds from a lively raffle, the event raised almost £6,500 to support the vital work of the charity.
Commenting on his award, Mr Copeland said: “I am very honoured to receive this award and am grateful to those who nominated and voted for me.
“It is a privilege to serve and represent the LGBTQIA+ community and to work towards a more equitable future. My thanks go to GNI MAG and to Danske Bank for making it happen.”
Daniel May, founder of The GNI MAG Awards 2024, added: “These awards not only highlight achievements but also underscore the continued commitment to inclusivity and positive social change.
“Jude’s award, all our awards and nominations are recognition of the power of LGBTQIA+ community, the impact of people and organisations in advancing equality for all.”
