ByrneWallace appoints new head of construction

ByrneWallace has announced the appointment of Martin Cooney as partner and head of the firm’s construction law practice.

Mr Cooney has over 10 years’ experience advising on all aspects of construction law, both contentious and non-contentious.

He is experienced in all forms of dispute resolution, having represented employers, consultants and contractors in mediations, conciliations, adjudications, expert determinations, arbitration and in the Commercial Court, and has particular expertise advising on health and safety pertaining to construction and engineering projects, and has represented clients in the defence of HSA prosecutions.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr Cooney was partner with a specialist property and construction law firm.

He previously trained and worked in the construction and engineering department of a large commercial law firm in Dublin and also worked as an in-house solicitor with the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) on the residential development and loan sales teams.
