Card payments now possible in court offices

Card payments are now possible in Circuit and District Court offices across the State, the Courts Service has announced.

Debit and credit card payments are now accepted for civil applications, small claims applications, fines and poor box payments.

Family law payments, bail and independent sureties can only be paid by debit card. Bail and independent sureties are also subject to a €500 maximum payment.

Card payments cannot be accepted in conjunction with cash/cheques, and contactless smartphone payments are not possible either.

“Cash is disappearing from our wallets and being replaced by cards and other payment methods,” the Courts Service notes on its website.
