Cigarette advertising stubbed out
Ireland followed Australia, the UK and France on Saturday to become the fourth country in the world to insist on plain packaging for cigarette packets.
Logos and branding are now banned and cigarettes must be sold in plain packaging with more prominent health warnings. Cigarettes already manufactured and packaged with the old branding must be sold within the year.
President Michael D Higgins signed the Public Health (Standardised Packaging of Tobacco) Act into law in March 2015.
