Clonakilty solicitor's book wins prestigious legal award

Clonakilty solicitor Flor McCarthy’s recent book, The Solicitor’s Guide to Marketing and Growing a Business, has been named Practical Law Book of the Year 2016 at the third annual Dublin Solicitors’ Bar Association (DSBA) Law Book Awards.

The book, published last year and launched by Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald in May 2015, has received universally positive reception from the legal profession since its launch.

It helps small and medium sized solicitors’ practices develop and grow successful businesses.

After being selected as Practical Law Book of the Year 2016 by the DSBA’s distinguished judging panel, the award was presented to Mr McCarthy by His Excellency Dominick John Chilcott Ambassador of the United Kingdom at a special ceremony and gala dinner at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin.

Others shortlisted for the award were Dr Thomas Courtney’s The Bloomsbury Guide to the Companies Act 2014, Professor JCW Wylie’s The Landlord and Tenant Acts and the Arthur Cox employment law team’s Employment Law Handbook 2015.

The Dublin Solicitors’ Bar Association (DSBA) is the largest bar association in Ireland.

Flor McCarthy is a practising solicitor and managing partner of McCarthy & Co. Solicitors in Clonakilty, a niche firm specialising in personal injury and medical negligence claims nationwide.
