Community Law & Mediation to launch employment and equality guides
Community Law & Mediation (CLM) will tomorrow launch two new guides aimed at helping the public to understand and navigate employment and equality rights.
A virtual launch event tomorrow morning will hear from Equality Minister Roderic O’Gorman, CLM CEO Rose Wall and managing solicitor Jane O’Sullivan, Senator and Traveller activist Eileen Flynn, Suzy Byrne of the National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities and Reuben Hambakachere of the Cultúr Migrant Centre in Navan.
The guides are designed to help members of the public understand the process involved in employment equality cases as well as raising awareness of the Equal Status Act.
Ms Wall said: “Community Law and Mediation have developed and published these guides as a direct response to the increased demand in queries relating to employment and equality that we have experienced in the past year.
“Too often, people who have experienced discrimination in the workplace or in daily life are unaware of their rights and are unsure of where to turn to. Until now, the information available could be confusing and difficult to understand.
“With the chaos Covid-19 has caused for many businesses, it is important that both employers and employees understand their rights and duties regarding equality and employment law, as well as being made aware of the processes involved in accessing justice. These guides are intended to be easy-to-understand step-by-step guides.”
