Companies able to file beneficial ownership information with new central register from today
Companies and industrial and provident societies (I&Ps) can file their beneficial ownership information in the new central register with effect from today.
The Registrar of Beneficial Ownership (RBO) was set up under secondary legislation earlier this year to meet Ireland’s obligations under EU money laundering rules.
Relevant companies and I&Ps have until 22 November 2019 to file their RBO data, which can be done online with no filing fees, without being in breach of their statutory duty to file.
The RBO’s office has already contacted companies and I&Ps in previous months about their filing obligations.
The creation of the central register is required under article 30(1) of the EU’s Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (4AMLD), which has been fully transposed into Irish law.
