Cork firm J.W. O’Donovan advises on US acquisition of Kildare food safety firm

Four partners at Cork firm J.W. O’Donovan Solicitors recently advised on the sale of a majority holding in Advanced Laboratory Testing (ALT) to Mérieux NutriSciences.
Partners John Sheehan, John Fuller, David Pearson and Ciara McDonnell advised on the transaction, which saw US-headquartered Mérieux acquire 75 per cent of the shares of Kildare-based ALT.
Advanced Laboratory Testing has 92 employees and generated sales in excess of €7 million in 2018 with continued very strong double-digit growth year-on-year.
Mérieux’s acquisition marks the company’s entry into the Irish food safety market. The announcement is a continuation of a trend seen in the last two years of companies based on mainland Europe purchasing entities in Ireland for the purpose of expansion.
