Northern Ireland’s Justice Minister David Ford has launched a recruitment competition to appoint a new chairperson and two board members to the Northern Ireland Police Fund (NIPF).

The NIPF provides financial assistance, advice, support and care to police officers and ex-officers, and to their families, who have been injured or disabled as a direct result of terrorism.

Board members are appointed on a fixed term of four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further period of four years.

Board members are not remunerated, but the chairperson - who is is expected to be involved in NIPF business for around 4-5 days per month - will receive a salary of £6,000 per year.

Mr Ford said: “The Fund’s role extends widely to cover all aspects of the care of police officers and former officers in Northern Ireland, and their families, who have been directly affected by terrorist violence.

“I would encourage anyone who has an interest in policing and the role of the Fund, and who believes they have the necessary skills and experience, to apply.”

The deadline for applications is 4pm on Tuesday 16 February 2016.
