• LK Shields advises on sale of Nicholas O’Dwyer to RSK

LK Shields acted on the sale of its long-standing client Nicholas O’Dwyer Limited, a consulting and engineering practice, to RSK, an integrated environmental, engineering and technical services business.

Nicholas O’Dwyer, founded in 1932, is one of the largest independently owned engineering consultancies in Ireland. The company employs more than 200 staff across Ireland, the UK, and Africa, where it has worked since the 1970s.

With its headquarters in Dublin, Nicholas O’Dwyer will work closely with RSK Ireland as it joins RSK’s European division. It will continue to be led by managing director Richard Crowe.

Partner Jennifer McGuire led the LK Shields team advising on the transaction, with assistance from corporate associate James Byrne, pensions and benefits lawyer Gillian Dully and property lawyer Elaine O’Connor.

Ronan Daly Jermyn advised Mastercard in relation to the development of its European Technology Hub and Campus in south Dublin as part of the US credit card issuer’s major expansion plan in Ireland.

The new campus-style development, which will become the company’s Technology Hub for Europe, includes the newly developed One South County office building in Leopardstown, along with Two and Three South County, which are not yet built.

Mastercard, which has had a presence in Dublin since 2008, has also announced plans to increase its staff to more than 2,000, more than trebling the current size of its workforce in Ireland, with notable investments in its artificial intelligence, cyber security, blockchain, user experience teams, and more.

RDJ property partners Evin McCarthy and Margaret Ring, and construction partner Finola McCarthy, advised on the matter.

• LK Shields advises Keurig Dr Pepper on opening of manufacturing plant

LK Shields has advised Keurig Dr Pepper on its project to open a 330,000 sq foot manufacturing plant in Newbridge, Co Kildare by the end of 2020.

The company, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange, has annual revenue in excess of $11 billion. In 2018, Keurig Green Mountain merged with the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. It has over 25,000 employees and more than 120 offices, manufacturing plants, warehouses and distribution centres across North America.

LK Shields is advising Keurig Dr Pepper on all Irish legal aspects of this project. Partner Jennifer McGuire is leading the firm’s team with assistance from Patrick Ryan, James Byrne, Richard Curran and Jamie Ritchie.

• Eversheds Sutherland advises WP Engine on office letting
  

Eversheds Sutherland has advised WP Engine on a Limerick office letting as part of the company’s continued expansion in Ireland.

The company, which provides WordPress web hosting, is taking up a 12,000 sq ft prime office building at 12 Henry Street in Limerick.

The 75-member team will be relocated to the new premises which will also provide space for future expansion, the Irish Independent reports.
