Dentons pushes back Dublin launch to September
Global law firm Dentons will not open its new Dublin office until September as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The firm announced its expansion into Ireland in January with the appointment of two partners from William Fry and Matheson.
It originally announced that its Dublin office would be “fully operational” from the second quarter of 2020, but that has now been pushed back to September, The Global Legal Post reports.
The firm recently signed a deal to occupy the second floor of Joshua House, a five-storey Grade A office building on Dawson Street in Dublin 2, providing enough space for up to 45 employees.
Once opened, the Dublin office will initially focus on transactional work for clients, particularly in the financial services, real estate, energy, infrastructure and technology sectors.
Global CEO Elliott Portnoy said in January that Ireland is a “priority market for many of our clients” and its expansion was part of a strategy “to be in all of the places our clients do business, providing them with high quality lawyers who are also established leaders in their markets”.
