Double appointment to Eversheds Sutherland’s projects and construction team
Global law firm Eversheds Sutherland LLP has made two appointments to its projects and construction team, with Kim O’Neill joining as a partner and Chelsey O’Doherty joining as an of counsel.
Ms O’Neill joins the firm today from another large Irish corporate firm and brings almost a decade of experience across construction, infrastructure and energy projects to the firm.
She advises on the procurement, initiation and execution of construction, infrastructure and energy projects, as well as resolving disputes. In particular, she advises on large construction and infrastructure projects with a focus on renewables, communications, strategic infrastructure and power purchase agreements.
She also advises developers on the construction of large-scale commercial and residential developments, and buyers/sellers on the acquisitions, selling or funding of such projects.
Ms O’Neill has advised several international property funds on various ongoing and past projects, both residential and commercial, throughout Ireland; on aspects of the Metrolink Project; on the conclusion of the contract for a new paediatric hospital; on the proposed offshore wind farm, Codling Wind Park; and on the construction of an energy provider’s power plant for a data centre.
Meanwhile, Ms O’Doherty joined the projects and construction team as an of counsel during June.
She joined the firm with over six years’ experience in construction, infrastructure and utilities, advising clients on the entire lifecycle of large infrastructure projects. Her primary focus is advising on energy construction and M&A (wind, solar, battery storage and hydrogen projects), as well as all aspects of social, transport and digital infrastructure projects, including concessions and PPPs.
The senior additions to the projects and construction team follows the appointments earlier this year of Seán Scally as partner and head of energy, and Alice Normoyle as solicitor.
Alan Connell, managing partner of Eversheds Sutherland Ireland, said: “Our projects and construction offering is a particularly vibrant and progressive group, covering crucially important areas of focus for our country right now, such as infrastructure and much-needed housing, to alternative and renewable energy projects and ESG.
“As the largest and most established, full-service, international law practice on the island of Ireland, and a global top 10 law firm, part of our ongoing success is not just meeting, but staying ahead, of our clients’ needs.
“The depth of Kim and Chelsey’s industry-leading expertise makes them both great additions to our talented projects and construction group, as we continue to grow our impressive, market-leading offering for our clients.
“With these key senior additions to our growing and dynamic team, I am confident we will enhance our position in the market as the standout legal partner in these key areas for our domestic and international clients alike. I am delighted to welcome Kim and Chelsey to the firm and I wish them great success in their new roles.”
