Dublin uni to host prison education and parenting conference
A half-day conference on prison education, parenting and re-entry will be hosted on Thursday by a partnership of two Dublin Institute of Technology schools.
DIT School of Languages, Law and Social Sciences has partnered with DIT School of Multidisciplinary Technologies to organise the free conference on DIT’s Grangegorman campus.
Keynote speaker Dr Bill Muth of Virginia Commonwealth University is set to talk about studies into the experience of incarcerated fathers and some preliminary policy analyses of present versus future orientations of prison parenting policies.
Other speakers and chairpersons include Dr Mary Rogan of DIT, representatives from the Irish Prison Service, Niall Walsh of Pathways, and Catherine Byrne.
They will talk about related areas including prison education, families and desistance. Dr Rogan will approach prisons and parenting from a human rights perspective.
Tickets for the conference can be reserved via EventBrite.
