Mr Kiely joins the firm from industry, most recently at BNP Paribas, where he was head of tax in Ireland for over three years. He also worked in-house at Ark Life and in practice at EY, where he spent time heading up their Irish financial services tax desk in New York.
He has over 15 years’ tax experience, advising on all aspects of the financial services sector and corporate tax, with a particular emphasis on financing, domestic and international investment, supply chain management, cross border tax issues, operational taxes, restructuring, and acquisitions.
Ms Daly joins the firm from McCann FitzGerald, where she has practised for six years. She has experience in advising on corporate and financial services tax matters with a particular focus on tax issues relevant to financial institutions and on structuring financial services transactions including banking operations, structured finance and securitisation vehicles, investment funds and asset managers, pension funds and tax disputes.
Managing partner Alan Murphy said: “Despite these extraordinary times, Eversheds Sutherland is continuing to recruit to meet, and indeed stay ahead of, our clients’ needs, and build on our strong global tax practice.
“We are delighted to announce these new senior appointments of strategic importance to the firm; they deepen our expertise in our growing tax team, and they show our commitment to our clients across the sector, from financial institutions and multinationals to indigenous companies.
“Tim and Melissa are very welcome additions to our team and I wish them every success in their new roles.”
Alan Connell, head of the tax group and commercial department, added: “I am delighted Tim and Melissa have chosen to join the team here at Eversheds Sutherland. They join the tax team at an exciting time for the practice, as it continues to experience significant growth, particularly in the financial services sector.
“With our extensive global reach, combined with in-depth local knowledge, the additions of Tim and Melissa demonstrates the growing scale and momentum of the firm’s tax practice, strengthening our position as the only full-service law firm in Ireland that can offer an internal seamless multi-jurisdictional tax advisory service to our domestic and international clients.”
