Family of murdered man to launch personal injury proceedings against killer
The son and daughter of a man who was murdered in Co Tipperary in 2011 have launched personal injury proceedings against his convicted killer in the High Court.
Patrick Quirke, 50, was jailed in May after jurors at the Central Criminal Court found him guilty of the murder of Bobby Ryan, 52, by a majority of 10-2.
Mr Ryan’s son and daughter are now planning to sue Mr Quirke, whose finances were the subject of speculation during the criminal trial, the Irish Independent reports.
It is believed that the siblings will seek damages for the suffering and distress caused by their father’s disappearance and murder.
Mr Ryan disappeared in 2011 and his body was not discovered until 2013.
