Former Cork courthouse to become 194-bed hotel
A historic building which temporarily housed Cork Circuit Court will be redeveloped into a 194-bed hotel under plans approved by Cork councillors.
The former McKenzies building, which was built in 1885, housed the Circuit Court for several years before falling into poor repair and disuse.
The site was bought for €3.5 million in late 2020 by JMK Group. The proposed hotel will be occupied by Moxy Hotels, part of the Marriott Group.
Cork City Council has granted permission for the development subject to 26 conditions, including the provision of cycle parking instead of car parking, EchoLive.ie reports.
