Gardaí send new Stardust file to DPP
Gardaí have sent a newly completed file on the 1981 Stardust nightclub fire to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
A fresh investigation was launched into the disaster that killed 48 people and injured 200 in Dublin 35 years ago after evidence emerged suggesting that five of the victims died before the fire was reported.
A spokesperson told the Irish Examiner: “Gardaí at Coolock have recently forwarded a file to the Office of DPP in relation to this ongoing investigation. It would be inappropriate to discuss correspondence from An Garda Síochána and the office of the DPP.”
