Hibernian Law Journal opens call for submissions for Volume 22
The Hibernian Law Journal is now accepting submissions to be considered for publication in Volume 22.
The Journal is particularly interested in receiving articles examining domestic matters and will also consider those which discuss European or international law or other common law jurisdictions, where they are relevant in an Irish context.
Submissions should be between 5,000 and 15,000 words, formatted in OSCOLA Ireland style and sent to editor@hibernianlawjournal.com by 18:00 on 20 January 2023.
Denis O’Farrell, deputy editor for editorial at the Journal, said: “Every year since its inception, the Journal and its staff have been proud to provide a platform for trainees, practicing solicitors, our colleagues at the Bar, students and early career academics to contribute to Irish legal discourse.
“The standard of submissions received by the Journal has always been high and we are sure this year will be no exception. In light of the significant legal developments of the past year, we look forward to seeing what this year brings.”
Successful submissions will be published in Volume 22 of the Journal, due for publication in hard copy and online (via HeinOnline, Westlaw IE and vLex Justis) in summer 2023.
An annual prize, chosen by Mr Justice Michael Quinn, the Journal’s judge-in-residence, is awarded for the best article and a separate prize is awarded by the Law Society of Ireland for the best article authored by a trainee solicitor.
Established in 1999 under the patronage of the Law Society of Ireland, the Journal is edited by trainee and newly qualified solicitors. It is also kindly supported by its benefactors drawn from the Inner Bar and its sponsor firms McCann FitzGerald LLP, Matheson LLP, Eversheds Sutherland LLP and William Fry LLP.
Joshua Kieran-Glennon, a trainee with McCann FitzGerald LLP, has recently been appointed editor-in-chief at the Journal for Volume 22.
Further information on submission guidelines can be found on the Journal’s website and any queries relating to submissions should be directed to editor@hibernianlawjournal.com.
