High Court judge warns that there are ‘not enough judges’ for CervicalCheck cases

A senior High Court judge has warned that there are “not enough judges” to hear cases brought by women affected by mistakes in cervical cancer screening.
Mr Justice Kevin Cross made the remarks during proceedings brought by Ruth Morrissey against the HSE and two US-based laboratories involved in cervical cancer screening.
The judge warned last year that it was possible that some of the women, who are suing over their late diagnosis with cancer despite taking part in the CervicalCheck screening programme, may die before their cases can be heard.
Mr Justice Cross told the court yesterday that the situation did not appear to have improved.
