Human rights expert Michael Becker joins Trinity School of Law

Michael Becker
Michael A. Becker has joined Trinity College Dublin School of Law as an assistant professor of international human rights law.
Mr Becker has a broad background in public international law and human rights. His research interests includes international courts and tribunals, fact-finding bodies and commissions of inquiry, the law of the sea, and the relationship between international law and global politics.
His academic background includes a law degree from Yale Law School and a B.A. in Political Science and French from Amherst College. He is completing his PhD dissertation at the University of Cambridge as a WM Tapp scholar at Gonville and Caius College.
Prior to entering academia, Mr Becker was in private practice at the law firms Allen & Overy LLP in London and Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler LLP in New York City. He was also a judicial law clerk to US federal judge Sidney H. Stein.
He is a qualified New York attorney and remains admitted to practice. From 2010 to 2014, he served as an associate legal officer at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
