Ireland’s longest-serving district court judge goes back on the road

Judge Flann Brennan, who was appointed as a judge in 1984 and permanently appointed to Dundalk in 1986, will now cover for judicial absences all over Ireland.

Solicitor Roger MacGinley led tributes at a special sitting, where he said the area had been fortunate to have the judge for so long.

But Judge Brennan said that, despite “very much” appreciating the words, he was not retiring - just “going back on the road”.

He added: “I have been very fortunate all the years I have been here and I appreciate the huge number of you who have come here today.”
