Ireland’s Olympic chief congratulated after athletes’ success
The lawyer heading the Olympic Federation of Ireland has been congratulated on Ireland’s success at the Paris games.
Sarah Keane was a solicitor at Matheson before becoming CEO of Swim Ireland and later president of the Olympic Federation of Ireland.
UCD Sutherland School of Law, where Ms Keane obtained her BCL and LLM, offered “huge congratulations to our alumna… on the great achievements of Time Ireland at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where we saw the greatest success ever from our outstanding athletes”.
Some 133 athletes competed for Ireland in these Olympics. The 64 women and 69 men competed across 14 sports, winning seven medals.
Sport minister Catherine Martin said: “I want to congratulate everyone who has been involved in this endeavour from the athletes to the coaches, the sporting bodies, the Olympic Federation through to the Sport Ireland Institute and beyond.”
