Irish Legal News reporter shortlisted for Justice Media Award
Conor Courtney, Northern Ireland case reporter at Irish Legal News, has been shortlisted in the Newcomer of the Year category at the Justice Media Awards 2022.
Mr Courtney joined the ILN team in August 2021 and has since produced more than 50 detailed reports of judgments from the Northern Ireland courts.
His nomination relates specifically to his work looking at the impact of Northern Ireland court judgments on human rights law and the Troubles.
The Newcomer of the Year category, in which a total of five people have been nominated, recognises “outstanding legal journalism across all platforms by a reporter who has been working full time in a journalism role for three years or less”.
Connor Beaton, editor of Irish Legal News, said: “We are delighted that Conor Courtney has been shortlisted for an award for his outstanding work covering the Northern Ireland courts. We wish him the best of luck ahead of next month’s awards ceremony.
“As the only daily legal publication covering both jurisdictions on the island, we are especially pleased that Conor’s work is being recognised in this way by the Law Society of Ireland. This confirms the high level of interest among legal professionals, north and south, in developments on the opposite side of the border.”
The 2022 Justice Media Awards will take place in-person at the Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place on Wednesday 22 June 2022. The full shortlist can be found here.
