James Duggan appointed managing partner at Flynn O’Driscoll
James Duggan has been elected managing partner of Flynn O’Driscoll Business Solicitors, succeeding founder Pat Flynn.
Mr Flynn is taking up the role of chairman following his 17-year term as managing partner, which has seen the firm grow to a staff of 85 people across two offices in Dublin and Galway.
As chairman of the firm, he will continue to guide the business and run the firm’s commercial practice, as well as focussing on client management and business development.
Welcoming Mr Duggan as his successor, Mr Flynn said: “James has been with the firm for 12 years and over this time has played an active and hands on role in the management and growth of the firm, his appointment was agreed unanimously by the partners which is a significant vote of confidence in his abilities and his track record. I look forward to continuing to work with James and the team in the ongoing growth and development of the firm.”
Mr Duggan will continue to lead the firm’s aviation and asset finance practice. He will be supported on the day-to-day management of the firm by the firm’s management committee and the newly appointed Chief Operations Officer, Gerard Dempsey.
Mr Dempsey, a chartered accountant, brings a wealth of experience to the firm having held a range of senior finance and operational leadership roles over his career with global corporations including Diageo, Microsoft and Sandvik.
Mr Duggan said: “This is a very exciting time in the growth and development of the firm. We have built a great team of legal professionals, an excellent domestic and international client base across a wide range of industries, and above all a great culture.
“This provides us with a strong platform upon which we intend to continue to grow the firm by adding new practice areas as well as continuing to develop our existing practice areas so as to continue to provide the best possible service to our clients.
“With my fellow partners, and with Pat Flynn as our chairman, we look forward to continuing the expansion and development of the firm to enable us to continue to meet the legal needs of our clients.”
