Kennedys promotes three in Dublin
Global law firm Kennedys has promoted Shanna Dunne and Michael Prior to legal director in its Dublin office, while welcoming new senior associate Martha Moylan.
Ms Dunne is now a legal director in the firm’s healthcare and life sciences team, specialising in defending medical negligence claims, catastrophic injury claims and product liability actions.
She regularly advises medical practitioners and their indemnifiers on a variety of healthcare-related claims, and represents healthcare professionals before regulatory bodies.
She has particular expertise defending large scale portfolios of claims and advising fertility clinics on all healthcare legal issues, including claims and legislative reform.
Mr Prior is now a legal director in the firm’s insurance team, specialising in insurance disputes involving financial institutions, directors and officers, and professionals.
He has a broad range of insurance experience having worked for most of the leading domestic insurers and many leading UK insurers on complex coverage claims including excess layer coverage disputes. He has coverage and defence experience of both Irish and international claims, including claims in the USA, Israel, France, Czech Republic, UK and Germany.
He also advises insurers and insureds on cyber claims, including data breach responses and cyber-related policy coverage. He also defends claims pursued by data subjects as well as advising clients on data risk and compliance.
Ms Moylan is now a senior associate in the insurance team. She specialises in professional liability, directors’ and officers’ liability and aviation matters.
The promotions form part of a global round which has seen 80 people take on new roles — 24 promotions from senior associate to legal director, and 56 appointments as senior associates.
The firm previously announced 20 promotions to partner earlier this year, including the promotion of Catherine Lyons to partner in the Dublin-based insurance team.
Nick Thomas, senior partner at Kennedys, said: “Seeing colleagues progress and develop is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work and I am pleased to say we have many who have been with us from the start of their careers.
“The fact that we are able to promote so many, year on year, reflects the calibre of our people and I would like to congratulate this year’s cohort on their achievements and the valuable contribution they make to Kennedys.”
Alan Demirkaya, chief people officer, added: “These senior roles recognise those who live the values of Kennedys, always striving to deliver the very best for our clients.
“They are also supported by our development and leadership programmes, which ensure we champion and nurture our talent as they continue their careers with us.”
