Kilrane O’Callaghan under investigation by Garda crime unit
Kilrane O’Callaghan & Co. Solicitors is under investigation by the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau, The Irish Times reports.
In July, principal solicitor Declan O’Callaghan was ordered by the High Court not to practise as a solicitor pending the outcome of Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal proceedings focused on allegations that he withdrew €344,000 in excessive fees from a bereaved child’s €454,840 estate.
The matter is due back in the High Court on Wednesday 19 December.
According to The Irish Times, a formal complaint about Kilrane O’Callaghan was made to the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau late last month.
At present, the firm is being run under the supervision of the Law Society of Ireland by Mr O’Callaghan’s daughters, Aoife O’Callaghan and Eimear O’Callaghan.
