Law Society team triumphs in National Negotiation Competition
Law Society trainees Enya Levy and Kevin Barrett have been named the overall winners of the National Negotiation Competition.
Ms Levy of Arthur Cox and Mr Barrett of McCann FitzGerald triumphed over the Trinity College Dublin team of Lana Bader Eddin and Raman Malashchanka in the final held at Blackhall Place on Tuesday.
Eight teams took part in the qualifying rounds including students from Maynooth University, Kings Inns, Griffith College, NUI Galway and Letterkenny Institute of Technology.
The competition involves students representing a party or client and negotiating either an international transaction or the resolution of an international dispute with an opposing team of students.
For the final the teams were involved in a contract negotiation where a small nation state attempts to hire an international energy expert to lead their efforts in finding oil resources in their territorial waters.
The Law Society’s team will now progress to represent Ireland at the International Negotiation Competition this summer. The Law Society team was guided throughout the competition by their coach, Raaj Zutshi, a Law Society Law School Ambassador and solicitor at Matheson.
