Law Society to seek court orders freezing Kilrane O’Callaghan accounts
The Law Society of Ireland will seek court orders freezing the accounts of suspended Ballaghderreen solicitor Declan O’Callahan and his former practice, Kilrane O’Callaghan & Co. Solicitors, The Irish Times reports.
The Society believes the client account deficit linked to the law firm has grown for months and may now exceed €730,000.
It will bring an application to the High Court on Friday asking for the accounts to be frozen and for books, files and accounts to be handed over.
The firm is currently being run under the supervision of the Law Society by Mr O’Callaghan’s daughters, Aoife O’Callaghan and Eimear O’Callaghan.
Nessa Bird BL, acting for the Society, said it was alleging dishonesty on the part of Mr O’Callaghan but not against either of his daughters.
