Lawyers to speak at One Island - One Environment event

Two lawyers will speak at the ‘One Island, One Environment’ discussion in Dublin next month.

The panel for the discussion will be chaired by investigative reporter & environmental columnist Shauna Corr and will include Justin Moran - director of external affairs with Wind Energy Ireland, Declan Owens - environmental lawyer and CEO of Ecojustice Ireland, Attracta Uí Bhroin - manager and law officer of Environmental Law Ireland and Seán Fearon - ecological economist and post doctoral researcher.

The Commission on the Future of Ireland is jointly hosting the event in the Ballymun Rediscovery Centre on Friday 4 April from 11am - 1pm. The theme of the conference is ‘The New Ireland is for Everyone – Have Your Say’ and the guest speaker will be Sinn Féin environment spokesperson Pa Daly TD.

Event host Lynn Boylan MEP said: “The independent panel we have announced for the ‘One Island, One Environment’ conference on the Future of Ireland is exceptional and represents a broad spectrum of opinion.

“The environment and the threat posed by climate change is often overlooked in the United Ireland discussion. I want to broaden it out so climate activists and environmentalists can understand why a United Ireland offers hope and opportunities to go further and faster in protecting the environment.

“I am delighted to host this event and would encourage environmental activists, those working in the sector and anyone interested in the discussion around Climate Change to come along and have your say.”
