Limerick academic appointed editor-in-chief of Judicial Studies Institute Journal

Ray Friel, director of research at University of Limerick’s Law School, has been appointed editor-in-chief of the Judicial Studies Institute Journal.

The JSI Journal aims to provide Irish judges with information and opinions that are relevant and useful to them in their work.

The prestigious journal is also read by judges, legal practitioners and academics from around the world.

Mr Friel said: “I feel both a great sense of honour at being chosen by the judiciary to lead this prestigious journal for the coming years and also a heavy burden of being able to live up to the excellent reputation of the Journal as one of the premier legal journals in Ireland.

“We are lucky to have a progressive and dedicated judiciary in this jurisdiction which recognises the value of academic work in assisting the judicial process.”

Professor Shane Kilcommins of the UL School of Law added: “Once again, this demonstrates the high regard in which the School of Law at UL is held by our external stakeholders and we are proud to be associated with the Judicial Studies Journal into the future.”
