The room at Enable Ireland’s adult services centre in Mungret, Limerick was officially opened yesterday.

A 13-strong team of Sellors staff raised €15,000 by climbing Ireland’s three highest mountains, Carrauntoohill, Caher and Beenkeragh in Co. Kerry, to fund the new multi-sensory room.

Dolores Ryan, Enable Ireland’s Limerick adult services manager, said: “The sensory room is an all-inclusive dedicated space for service users with complex dual disability needs to provide relaxation and enjoyment; stimulate sensory input and facilitate communication and mobility for the service users. We are extremely grateful to the team at Sellors who delivered this wonderful new facility to the centre.”

Enable Ireland provides vital therapy and support services to children and adults with disabilities in Limerick city and county.

Its adult services centre in Mungret provides a non-residential, five-day week service to over 50 adults with physical and sensory disabilities encompassing a wide range of services such as person-centred planning, training and development, physiotherapy, sports facilities, transport, rehabilitation and respite.
