Maeve Delargy shortlisted for LGBTQ+ award
Philip Lee senior associate Maeve Delargy has been shortlisted for an LGBTQ+ Person of the Year Award.
Ms Delargy is one of four nominees in the category at Ireland’s only LGBTQ+ awards, the GALAS, run by the National LGBT Federation (NXF).
She is a founding committee member of the OUTLaw Network, which brings together LGBT+ people and allies in the Irish legal sector, and founder of the Lesbian Lawyers Network.
A year ago, Ms Delargy played a central role in organising a protest outside the Italian Embassy in Dublin in response to the removal of rights from lesbian mothers in Italy.
The Person of the Year Award recognises an LGBTQ+ individual who has made an outstanding contribution, as a role model and exceptional leader, to the LGBTQ+ community in the last 24 months. Their contribution will have improved the lives of LGBTQ+ people and they will have been recognised by the community for this.
The other nominees in the category are Senator David Norris, Patrick Bracken and Ranae von Meding.
The winners in all 12 award categories will be named at a ceremony at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre on 5 October.
